The Ins and Outs of Air Handler Rental

An air handler, or air handling unit (AHU), is a machine used to circulate and, in some cases, condition air. An air handler is often a component of a heating, ventilating and air-conditioning (HVAC) system in most commercial and industrial scenarios. The most common air handler configuration includes a blower, heating elements, cooling elements, filter racks/chambers, and sound dampeners.

In a permanent structure that requires air handling, purchasing an AHU and a maintenance agreement will usually make the most sense. There are, however, many commercial and industrial scenarios where long-term ownership is not practical. Consider, for instance, a contractor who works on a site-by-site basis. That contractor would usually require an AHU at each site, but the transportation and setup is too expensive and time-consuming that ownership is simply not feasible. In this scenario, air handler rental makes much more sense because it offsets the initial purchase price and the cost of transportation and setup.

Another advantage of renting is that our customers get to pick and choose the AHU components for each job. If they purchase a unit, they incur the long-term cost of a cooling element. On a job where AC isn’t required, they're paying for that cooling element unnecessarily. Renting, on the other hand, means you only pay for an air handler when you absolutely need it.

In order to rent the right air handler, you must properly assess our airside requirements. What is the project's budget? Are there power consumption limitations? What is the size of the area? How long will you need the unit? How much air do you need to move? Is filtration, heating, cooling, and/or any special features necessary? That's a lot of questions to handle, but we're here to help answer them for you: another benefit of air handler rental is the built-in consultation we offer.

Carrier Rentals will provide a rental agent that will work alongside you to determine your needs. We can also help develop contingency plans, which minimize the impact of unanticipated incidents. Without such help, preparation can be extremely difficult, especially when you must perform the assessment for each new commercial or industrial scenario.

If you need air handler rental, Carrier Rentals is happy to help with every facet of the process.
